Actually not many people know about this place I guess. I bet many Saarlaenders don't know this place. So, further info just check out www.bostalsee.de
Bostalsee is a lake. See means lake in German. So, Bostalsee can be translated as Lake Bostal. Bostalsee is located in Saarland, exactly in Bosen. It is a very very small town in Landkreis St. Wendel.
How to get there?
You can get there by train from Saarbruecken to Frankfurt or Mainz and get off at Tuerkismuehle. Then, you have to take the bus. This was my itinerary for today. I got in a train to Frankfurt at 12:52 PM and then I took bus 630 from Tuerkismuehle Bahnhof to Nonnweiler. And then I got off at Campingplatz. You can also take bus R11 from Tuerkismuehle Bahnhof to Selbach am Sengert. And you have to get off at Campingplatz or Strandbad. Bus R11 comes only once every 2 hours. I admit that the access to get there is not really good. And it is even worse on Saturdays and Sundays.
So what can we do there?
I guess there are basically 3 things to do in Bostalsee: cycling or trekking, sailing, and bathing.
Bostalsee is passed by the Saarland-Radweg (Saarland's cycling track). You know, Saarland has this track for those who like cycling. Cycling in Saarland is definitely worth it. Saarland offers beautiful view of green field and river. Cycling or trekking along Bostalsee is a recommended thing to do. Bostalsee brings you peace with all those chirping birds and gorgeous large green field.
You can also rent a boat in Bostalsee. Unfortunately I don't know how much it costs. I guess you should check it on its website. There is also a boat where you can sit down and drink beer. The boat then sails around the lake.
You can also enjoy white sand in Bostalsee! It's perfect right? There is an area called Strandbad. You can lie on white sand or play beach volleyball and enjoy the sun. You have to pay some money to get in there. Just check its website because I didn't get there.
If you want to stay overnight, you can also rent a tent there in its camping area. I guess it's worth trying. You can hear the orchestra of insects at night and birds in the morning.
I enjoyed being there. I just sat in the area where people can rent boats (I sat there because it is free lol). And I don't know I just sat there watching boats. I had 3 waffles with butter too. And I listened to John Legend and Joss Stone. I let my feet a little bit wet. The water was not very cold and it felt so fresh after soaking my feet into the water. Then I took a walk around the lake. The large green field with the voices of birds is amazing. And I was so blessed with a great weather!
What I like about Bostalsee is that it is quiet. There aren't many cars passing this area. All you can hear is just birds and wind. I hardly saw young man like me. I guess the visitors were above 45 or under 15.
I recommend you to go back to Tuerkismuehle Bahnhof by Bus R11 to Nohfelden. The views during the journey are fantastic. You can see green fields with horses and little wooden houses. And you can also see the lake from above.

hey, there's much better to see around Europe than Bostalsee. take a look at Italy... And if you loke lakes, those in Northern Italy will amaze you! Concerning Saarland, check Pulvermaar, a lake inside an old volcano.
cheers,

hi thx for the comment, Bernhard. Nice to know you too. Yea of course there's much better to see than Bostalsee. Bostalsee isn't really special. I just went there because it's the nearest lake from Saarbruecken, where I live. I've read an article about Pulvermaar. Oh that looks so interesting. Frankly I don't know where it is located precisely. I guess it's near Trier. Thanks anyway for the info. Cheers
