Hi again! Finally I decided to reconstruct my blog and start again from the beginning. I blog because people keep saying I always have different thoughts than other people so I guess my thoughts are worth-sharing.
-I'm Ricky Astrida Herman. You can just call me Ricky. I am Indonesian but now I live in Saarbruecken, Germany. I'm studying right now at Studienkolleg, well it's like a preparation course for those who don't have European high school certificate. And I'm taking economy as my major. I plan to study tourism after finishing this Studienkolleg (hopefully I'll finish it this June)
-I don't know what to answer when people ask me about my hobby. I like volleyball and tennis but I don't think they're my hobbies because I don't play that much. I like watching movies but I don't think it's my hobby too because I'm not really updated. I watch movies after 6 months being released. I play music but that is also not my hobby. I play piano anyway. Travelling is definitely my interest and what I live for. But I don't think it's my hobby too because I don't travel much due to my financial condition (well I'm a student). I really love learning languages. I speak fluent Indonesian, English and German. I also speak French and Chinese but not really fluent. I also used to learn Japanese in high school and I can write hiragana and katakana. I understand Jawa Ngoko (a dialect in Indonesia) and of course Malay (all Indonesians understand Malay). Back to hobby, well I guess my hobby would be checking out videos in youtube and read interesting articles in internet. That really sounds like a real geek. But I don't care.
-I wear round-shaped glasses while most people wear square-shaped glasses. And I like my own style.
-I cannot describe my favorite genre of music or film. I just love something unique and different. I hate superhero movies because they're always so predictable (except Watchmen - it's kinda shocking). Villains lose and the heroes win in the end. I listen to John Legend and Joss Stone a lot. So I guess they're my favorite singers. Jason Mraz is such an inspiring artist for me. I love reading his notes in his facebook fanpage. Tina Fey is the sunlight in the middle of a gloomy day for me. She's the butter for my bread. Okay, it's getting a bit exaggerating. But I love her. She's so hilarious and witty.
-I was involved in several organizations during high school: SMPK7 Youth Red Cross, Smukiez Choir, Q Design Community, and SMAK 1 English Debating Society. And I'm so grateful that I was involved in the debating team. I love discussing lots of issues. The topics can be politics, economy, human right, or even God. And that's what I'm going to write in this page.
-I really wanna work in tourism and hospitality industry. But honestly I don't know what I'll be. Will I be a tour guide? Or a manager in a 5-star hotel in Bahamas? Or maybe a cabin crew in Ryanair? No, please not Ryanair I should aim higher. Okay, cabin crew in Cathay Pasific maybe? I really don't know. But I think I wanna be a journalist too. So, I guess I'd love to work for a travel magazine as hmmm a writer maybe. Or maybe I'll write travel books for LonelyPlanet.
So, I guess that's enough. At the left of this page you'll see some links to my favorite websites. The websites deal with travel (except: Milk Toof haha this blog is just too cute). That's because yeah that's where I belong to. And what am I going to write here? I will write about my thoughts of an issue. Firstly I'll find an interesting topic and then share it. I'll also write movie reviews. I will also write about my country, Indonesia. Its culture, its philosophy, its food, everything. I'll write how the Indonesians think and probably I'll give you tips for dating an Indonesian woman :)
Well, thank you for reading my first post. Have a great day.
