I actually don't know what to write here since my trip to Paris was very touristic. You know, I didn't do much what locals do, which would be more interesting to be posted here.
Overall, my score for my Paris trip is 4 out of 5. Definitely Paris is a beautiful city. But the cold wind almost killed me.
Here are some objects I visited. I have no hotel review because I couchsurfed. And, my host is a very nice man. We went to Versailles together but unfortunately it is closed every Monday. So, remember: Don't go to Versailles on Monday!
I was there for 5 days. I took an ICE train from Saarbruecken central station to Paris Est. It cost me 39 EUR. Actually I could have bought it for 29 EUR. But I was just too late. I went there with 8 other Indonesians. And yes, I was the guide.
DAY 1
My first object was l'Arc de Triomphe. It is one of the most famous landmarks in the world. I cannot explain much about this because almost everyone knows it. It's just a monument in the middle of a big commercial street of Paris, L'avenue de Champs Ellysées. You'll find a lot of shops along this street. And it is awesome because I cannot find stores like that here in Saarbruecken. I don't think I can find them in Berlin too. If you're really into fashion, you'll love it. Unfortunately, I don't. I recommend you taking the metro to Charles de Gaulle - Étoile. That's where you can find this monument.
Then we just took a walk along Champs Ellysées. Lucky for me, there was the Christmas Market. The Christmas Market was more expensive than in Germany. But it was pretty interesting. And I ate this beignets and churros. They´re actually just like donuts. Beignets are filled with melted chocolate. And they are delicious, especially because the weather was terribly cold and these beignets and churros were warm. The churros are better served with sugar, but Nutella doesn´t sound bad too. They´re also not that expensive. The one in Champs Ellysées is more expensive than the one in Montmartre. Well, that sounds logical.
And we also had macarons. These cute colorful donuts are also one of the attractions in Paris. They´re quite expensive. Many tourists but it as a souvenir. I tasted the vanilla flavor and well that was not special at all. So, I didn´t really like it, although I admit they look very nice.
After having fun in Champs Ellysées, we decided to go to Galerie Lafayette. The thing is if you travel with Indonesians you´ll end up going shopping, which I don´t reallz like. But I was the guide so I went with them there too. There are 2 Galerie Lafayette-s in Paris: in Haussmann and in Montparnasse. The most famous one is the one in Haussmann. You can just take a metro to Haussmann St. Lazare or Opéra. I suggest you getting of at Opéra. You´d be able to see Opéra Garnier, which is one of the biggest opera houses in the world. We had lunch in a Japanese restaurant near Opéra Garnier. I know, this is another characteristic of Indonesian travellers. They tend to find Asian restaurants instead trying the local cuisines. The Japanese restaurant wasn´t bad. I hadn´t had Udon for so long.
Galerie Lafayette is a shopper´s paradise. It is very big and full with Chinese. Seriously, I was so surprised that there were so many Chinese going to Paris to shop. They´re definitely not backpackers like me. They shop a lot in Galerie Lafayette, not the cheap things but real expensive brands like Louis Vuitton or Bottega Venetta.
Then we had a dinner at a bad French restaurant named Chez Clément near the opera. It was very bad. The service was very bad. We had to wait for 45 minutes. The cook forgot to cook one dish. They didn't serve breads for us and they charged us for carafe d'eau. The french fries was not salted at all. The escargot was worse than the one we had in the other restaurant, which will be posted in the second part.
